August/Sept  Release of my book The Empty Swing

1972 London England Elizabeth McDaid aged 18 was working for the Times newspaper.
Elizabeth, came from humble beginnings, living in Simi Valley USA, her father a farmer’s son originally from Donegal, Ireland and her mother a seamstress, left the US for London in 1964 when she was just 10 years old.
Elizabeth was a quiet girl; she felt that she didn’t belong in London, even through-out her school years she was rather reserved, her mother and father were very private people and very protective of her.
‘Of course, she had friends’ but her parents didn’t allow her to mingle out-with school; she studied hard to get where she is today, she enjoyed her job but it wasn’t enough.
She always felt there was bigger and better things that she could be doing, and a yearning to travel.
Elizabeth had, had this empty feeling and a recurring dream or ‘what she thought was a dream’of her sitting on a swing and someone else on a swing next to her, although she knew that there was someone on the other swing she never did see a face.
She missed her home back in Simi Valley so one day at dinner she said to her parents that she wanted to go back home to Simi for a holiday and visit relatives, there was a look of shock on her parents faces and they immediately said no.
They told her that there were no relatives left in Simi, which she found rather strange because she knew that her mother had been receiving letters from back home on a regular basis, however she dropped the subject when she realised that it seemed to upset them the thought of her going back there.
Then four years later, she decided again to tell her parents that she was going back, an opportunity arose in work that would take her to Calabasas to cover a story in relation to the ‘The Pumpkin Festival’ She figured as she would be in the area she may as well go back and relive some childhood memories.
‘Once back in Simi she realised exactly why her parents didn’t want her to return, and god knows they tried so hard for her to decline the offer that her employers were so keen for her to take’
Once in Simi she began to unravel the truth behind why they left Simi. Did she stay or did she leave? And how did her parent’s explain the unusual yet bazaar set of circumstances that led to them leave the valley? And who was it on the other swing.

SeptemberKosovo – Pristina

A first for me but I’m very much looking forward to what lies ahead.

Pristina is considered as the heart of Kosovo because of its central location and its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education, service, research and healthcare. Almost all domestic and foreign companies, media and scientific institutions have their headquarters in the city.

More photography.

Dec – Munich

I will be traveling to Munich this month and as per there will be plenty to talk about including some photography.

The city is a major centre of art, advanced technologies, finance, publishing, culture, innovation, education, business, and tourism in Germany and Europe and enjoys a very high standard and quality of living, reaching first in Germany and fourth worldwide according to the 2015 Mercer surveyAccording to the Globalization and World Rankings Research Institute Munich is considered an alpha-world city, as of 2015.

The name of the city is derived from the Old/Middle High German term Munichen, meaning “by the monks”, which in turn is derived from Mönch (which in the end derives from ancient Greek μοναχός). It derives from the monks of the Benedictine order, who ran a monastery at the place that was later to become the Old Town of Munich; hence the monk depicted on the city’s coat of arms. Munich was first mentioned in 1158. From 1255 the city was seat of the Bavarian Dukes. Black and gold – the colours of the Holy Roman Empire – have been the city’s official colours since the time of Ludwig the Bavarian, when it was an imperial residence. Following a final reunification of the Wittelsbachian Duchy of Bavaria, previously divided and sub-divided for more than 200 years, the town became the country’s sole capital in 1506.

JanuaryPristina, Kosovo

Kosovo, self-declared independent country in the Balkans region of Europe. Although the United States and most members of the European Union recognised Kosovo’s Declaration of Independence from Serbia in 2008, Serbia, Russia and a significant number of other countries including several EU members did not. Kosovo was admitted to the United Nations (UN)

The name Kosovo is derived from a Serbian place-name meaning, Field of Blackbirds.

The borders of Kosovo are mainly mountainous, characterised by sharp peaks and narrow valleys so, I’m pretty much hoping that I get some real good Photography on my visit.

Including a trip to Palm Springs A city in the Sonoran Desert of Southern California It’s known for its hot springs, stylish hotels, golf courses and spas.

The shopping district along Palm Canyon Drive features vintage boutiques, interior design shops ’which will make me feel right at home’ And restaurants.

Although not confirmed as yet, I will be visiting either Sacramento or Arizona I will update that very soon.

There are other events etc through-out the year which I will update once dates have been confirmed.
