Sad, Lonely & A Long Way From Home

Extract From Chapter 11

A Gun to My Head

After that, I always went to Scotland on my own. I would travel up every three to five months but that last year was more frequent. It was during one summer holiday I said to Peter, “I’m going to go home for a week this time, I need to spend a little more time with Leanne.”
Well, you would have thought I threw a rag to a bull, he was like a madman, gun in hand, as he was ready to go rabbit hunting. He lifted that gun right in front of my face, loaded, which it shouldn’t have been until he was up the tops. He started to shout at me, “That’s right, you go back to Scotland, back to your daughter and your ex and leave me here again.”
