Sad, Lonely & A Long Way From Home

Extract From Chapter 9

Missing My Daughter

About a month later, Peter and I were in the pub having a meal, and out of nowhere he got down on his knee and brought this small box out of his pocket.

I was so shocked because the room was full of diners, and then he said, “Belinda will you marry me?”
I didn’t know where to look; I was so embarrassed but people were looking at me, as if waiting to hear my answer. After a minute or so, I said, “Yes.” I surprised myself because I didn’t really have time to think about it. If it hadn’t been for that room full of people I would have said I needed time to think.
