06 January, 2009: SHANGHAI - ibis has continued its rapid expansion in China with the opening of five ibis hotels over 10 days. The hotels are Ibis Qiqihaer Zhongshan, Ibis Hailar Shengli, Ibis Liangshan Xichang, Ibis Dalian Sanba Square, and Ibis Harbin.
Gilles Larrive, senior vice president Ibis Asia ,said the five new hotels strengthened the hotel network in east and west China.
“With some of the strongest expansion of the brand taking place in China, being able to open these hotels in such a short period is testament to the investment that Accor has made in ibis China and the organisation of the operational teams,” he added.
Meanwhile, Accor has opened the VIE Hotel Bangkok - the first MGallery hotel in Asia, and follows the launch of the brand in Australia and New Zealand last year.
MGallery is a small collection of upscale hotels with a distinctive personality
A four-storey “cube” at the front of the hotel contains the VIE 39 Exclusive Club, where VIE Cigar and VIE Wine provide an extensive selection of cigars and wines, topped with a rooftop swimming pool.
The hotel offers large purpose-built meeting and function rooms able to host events for up to 150 people, plus a ballroom and adjoining foyer for pre function entertainment.
The hotel is close to Ratchathewi Skytrain station.
