People-to-people exchanges between China and Vietnam have remained close over the years.
Since COVID-19 control measures were lifted, the border region in southwest China has welcomed a soaring number of tourists from its neighbor.
The focus is on Hekou Port in Yunnan Province, a key gateway between China and Vietnam. Before the pandemic, the port attracted 1,000 to 2,000 Vietnamese tourists annually. Numbers have sharply increased, with around 3,000 daily visitors expected during peak times.
Local agencies plan to introduce self-driving tours for Vietnamese visitors and anticipate continued tourism growth.
