The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), a Chinese aircraft maker, has received over 1,000 orders for its C919 jetliner, according to its board chairman He Dongfeng.
COMAC developed the C919 and ARJ21 to form a lineup of domestically produced aircraft ranging from regional to long-haul. In December 2022, launch customer China Eastern Airlines received its first deliveries of the C919 and began commercial operations in May 2023. Currently two C919s are operating on routes between Shanghai and Chengdu.
