TripActions, a business-travel software startup, plans to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT capabilities across its online platform, an effort aimed at seizing market share by making expense reports easier to use.
As part of the move, the Palo Alto, Calif., company is changing its name to Navan, while consolidating its travel, corporate card and expense services into a single app, the company said. The app will also be made available to individual users with a business email, it said. Until now, TripActions travel-booking tools were only accessible through a companywide corporate account.
With ChatGPT capabilities built in, the platform’s chatbot will be able to learn a users’ preferred airlines, hotels and restaurants, and incorporate these options into a proposed itinerary, while leveraging natural-language models to respond to voice commands, said Ariel Cohen, TripActions co-founder and chief executive.
Behind the scenes, ChatGPT will also write, test and fix the underlying code that runs the app, constantly making tweaks based on data analytics aimed at boosting operational efficiency across its code base, Mr. Cohen said.
