China's first Atlantis Resort has opened on Hainan Island, featuring the Ambassador Lagoon, the world's largest open-air aquarium.
The 1,314-room Atlantis Sanya has five suites and one restaurant that are "underwater," meaning that they feature floor-to-ceiling windows that look into the Ambassador Lagoon. The resort also features the two-story Lost Chambers Aquarium, the twisting water slides of Aquaventure Waterpark, Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen and Bar and an Ahava spa.
The USD 1.6 billion resort is managed by Kerzner International. It is the third Atlantis resort; the others are in the Bahamas and Dubai.
